Today is May 25, 2014
I have no immediate needs and am feeling nearly recovered from 5 surgeries and chemotherapy. I have never been so happy to see a summer come around again. Thank you for all of your help. I will have another small surgery soon and will post if I need anything. Watch for retrospective posts now that I can write again now that the lymphedema is under control and life is normalizing. I’m beginning to type of the notes and thoughts from the past 7 months.
Today is January 12, 2014.
I need help with many things I didn’t expect at this point due to severe lymphedema in my left hand. I have a soft cast from fingertips to shoulder. It takes up to 4 hours total to wash, dry, roll and rewrap it myself each day. With someone else it’s 1/2 hour.
1) Need people to help me wrap cast each day. If you’re avlb to come over to my house one morning per week for a little while please let me know.
2) I’m having trouble doing daily activities like cooking and cleaning. Thank you.
Today is Dec 16, 2013. I’m 4 weeks past the big surgery and 3 weeks past my 2nd surgery. I am not allowed to drive yet so I need rides to Dr appointments as well as healthy food. I haven’t been able to work for the past month so financial donations to the medical fund are very welcome.
Today is October 27,
I’m recovering from my final round of chemo for the next four weeks prior to surgery. Food is still very helpful. Cut up veggies and small portions of prepared organic meats & salads are great. Soup is good. I’m still not very strong so help with household things like cleaning is useful. I’m getting better so I have the desire to be active but can’t do much so company and guests are most welcome. I’m looking forward to getting stronger now and enjoying this month! Thank you as always. Kimberli
I do need a couple of people to help with the studio Open House this weekend. We expect 2000 people in the building again this year. I will not have a full show but will be open and could use help preparing snacks/wine and welcoming guests. I will show a slideshow of some of the Finding Beauty in Cancer images and have a crowdfunding pledge table. Thank you!!
Today is Saturday, Sept 28th. I had my 6th chemo session this past Tuesday. My mom was unable to come for this recovery week due to the flu. I have a cold. It’s that time of year and yet chemo does not take a break.
1) I need some help with food for a few days. Prepared dishes with veggies and meats would be great. No dairy including butter or cheese (allergic.)
2) Small electric room heater (I’m renting out my second room downstairs and it’s cold)
3) Massage gift certificate (any place is great) I’m in pain this week from the new chemo. Although massage is not covered by my insurance I think it would help relieve some of the chemo pain.
Today is Monday, Sept 23. I supposed to have my 6th chemo session tomorrow but we have a few glitches. First, I’ve caught a cold. We’ll have to see if I’m healthy enough tomorrow now. Second, my mom has the flu and can not come to help me this week like she has in the past. I’m rallying the troops to get through this week without someone here 24/7. I tend to be the worst on Thurs-Sunday. If you’re available to hang out for several hours, run errands or make some healthy food that would be much appreciated. Drop by visits during these bad days are not good as they just wear me out. Drop by food with no visits are welcome. Come back in 10 days if you want to chat on a good day. If this 2 weeks is like the last treatment, I’ll be totally out of it tomorrow during chemo (massive amounts of Benadryl and new chemo drug) pretty okay on Weds then in pain and have nausea, blurred vision and hot flashes Weds night through Tuesday or Weds of next week. Biggest problems are that I shouldn’t drive to my appointments, don’t eat well or remember which meds to take on those days if I’m alone. Thank you!
Today is Tuesday, Sept 17th. I’m with friends for the next couple of days. Health has been up and down with pain issues this week. I could use some fresh fruit or greens from the farmer’s market this weekend if anyone is going. I will need someone to go to two iv infusions with me the week after next please. Thank you!!
Crowd Sourcing: Need a few people who want to help set up crowd sourcing to fund the project. I have a volunteer leader who will tell you exactly what pieces are needed and you can select whatever part you want. I will finish filming the video soon. We need an editor.
PAST Today is Friday, Sept 6th. Thank you KATU for the amazing piece. If you’re new to the blog, welcome. My only immediate need this weekend is for you to enjoy the blog and check back for update.
Financial donations toward my medical costs are always welcome and needed.
There will be a Kick Starter video soon to fund the gallery show and coffee table book. Check back for the link.
PAST Today is Thursday, Sept 5th. I’m 10 days into round 4 chemo and beginning to recover. The fog is lifting.
If you’re going to a Farmer’s Market I could use some fresh berries, peaches and organic beef or fresh fish. Thank you! Kimberli (Thank you Caroline & Kirk)
Today is Monday, August 26. I go back in for round 4 of chemo tomorrow. My mother is here again to stay with me, this time for a few days longer as the last recovery period took 10 days. We have lots of food (thank you Whitney, Pat and others) for going to farmers market and grocery shopping. Does anyone have a beach house I could use part of this week? It’s would be great to get away for a night or two. I’ll post again when we need something specific. I still do need a designer or and web press person to help make the website look better. I know it’s not hard but I can’t quiet get my chemo brain around it right now. Thank you!
PAST Immediate Needs August 22, 2013
This 3rd round of chemo, given last Tuesday, Aug. 13, has been far more difficult of a recovery than the previous rounds. I’m in my “good week” now and still very fatigued, nauseated and foggy brained. I am trying to work PT and not doing a great job of it. I’ve very difficult to be organized enough to say what I need this week.
-Groceries. I’ve had to change my diet to include meat (no hormones) and am slowly adding that back into my diet. That’s the only food, aside from maybe soup I can think of right now. Ziplock freezer bags, quart and gallon. I have plenty of veggies and berries right now (thank you Whitney)
PAST Immediate Needs August 12, 2013
Word Press expert to help with some more advanced questions about the blog.
I have round 3 of chemo tomorrow. Mom is coming back to town to help for the ‘bad’ week. I would like to see folks this week if you have time to drop by for a very short visit. My energy is limited but it’s always good to give hugs and have company for 20 minutes. We might need a grocery or pharmacy run at some point as well. Thanks for all the love! Love you right back!!
PAST Immediate Needs August 6, 2013
Thank you for the food! You’ve all covered me through the weekend now. I am feeling very loved this first hair-free morning! I woke up bald today.
PAST Immediate Needs August 4, 2013
This is a recovery week. Last Tuesday was the 2nd chemo treatment and the next is Tues., Aug. 13th. Hopefully this week will I will continue to gain strength like the last time. Mom went home to attend to her own life and my cat is watching me now. She doesn’t like shopping however. Says it’s hard for her without opposable thumbs. Lame excuse!
NEEDS: For now, the most helpful things are really just a bag of fresh fruits and veggies for me to be able to juice daily. Also small quantities of good fish. Red lipstick kisses on Facebook also rock. Got WIGS? I’m collecting borrowed wigs now. Any color or style in good condition welcome.
*My friend Pasha is setting up a “soup wheel” calendar online if you want to sign up to help with food. I’ll post that soon. She will post both individual grocery items I as well as specific recipes that are cancer fighting and healthy for me. Note: I have serious food allergies. I’m also avoiding sugar now.
LOVE: Thanks for the calls, emails, texts and FB messages. Thanks for picking up prescriptions and going to the grocery store – those are the last things I want to spend limited energy doing. Thanks for dropping by with fresh peaches and quick hugs. I love that and appreciate the company even if it’s only for a few minutes.
PAST NEEDS: thank you
Today is Weds, 31 2013.
I had the 2nd Chemo treatment yesterday. 25% of those treatments under my belt now! I thought they might have given me Kool Aid as I felt great on those steroids and anti-nausea until I woke up at midnight with the full range of side effect. Mom is here, thank goodness, as I’m having trouble tracking my medication and just doing my daily stuff.
Things I may need this week: Last time my vision blurred and I couldn’t drive myself for a few days. This is find during the day while she’s here but she is worse than I am at night so I may call on a couple people for rides at night. Invite me to your parties, summer concerts or other events even if I can only come for a little while. I NEED to see and hang out with my friends to stay positive. Love you!
PAST NEEDS – Thank you!
Today is Sunday, July 28th. I feel GREAT aside from some fatigue and a little nausea. I get stronger every day and I’m grateful.
My 2nd date with Chemo is this Tuesday, July 30th. He just assumed I would go out with him again. I like a man with confidence.
If this round is like the last I will be unable to drive (chemo blurred my vision for a few days) and hanging out near a napping place for several days afterwards. My mom is coming back to town (I hope she bakes me cinnamon rolls like when I was little) to help me.
Things I may need this week:
Evening rides. (My 78 yr old beautiful mostly night-blind mother terrifies me …. “Mom, good job driving in the city,” I compliment. “Mom! Curb!” “Oh, good thing there wasn’t anyone in a wheelchair there,” she laughs. *Help save my life please. I want to make it through chemo.
